Using Plasma Proteomics To Understand Alzheimer’s and Other Brain Diseases

9am JST| 11am AEDT

The plasma proteome presents a goldmine of information that can be used to develop diagnostic tests and identify novel drug targets. In this webinar, our expert speaker Dr. Keenan Walker will describe his research into understanding the proteins, their networks and biological pathways involved in age-related neurodegenerative diseases and vascular cognitive impairment.

Dr. Walker will discuss how he used a multi-cohort approach to integrate proteomic, genetic, brain imaging and cerebral spinal fluid biomarkers from initially cognitively normal individuals who later develop dementia, in order to discover novel blood-based biomarkers and mechanistically relevant proteins for therapeutic target prioritization.

Attend this webinar to:
  • Discover which proteins are most strongly implicated in dementia risk
  • Learn how combining proteomics with neuroimaging provides new insights into cerebral small vessel disease
  • Explore the process of nominating potentially casual proteins and genetically validating biomarkers
